Library News

Although some disks were offered as give-aways at the annual Christmas meeting, our librarian, Tom Stepanek, may still have some 2003 Summer CDs containing many useful "utility" programs which he has accumulated during the years including the latest updates of perennial favorites. Ask him.

Tom is also evaluating the latest release of Sun Microsystems OpenOffice which appears to be an open source version of StarOffice, Sun's software package marketed to challenge Microsoft Office. The Sun version is offered for several operating systems including Windows, OS2 and Linux and files generated in each operating system can be read in the others. It will also read files generated in Microsoft Office.
