AOL Browser Tweak
by Boogie Jack, SFpcUG Nov-Dec 2000 eBLUE
This is for our friends using AOL. I get a lot of requests for help from AOL users that can only save images as .art files. rather than as .jpg or .gif files (which they actually are). This is because by default, the AOL browser compressions (sic) images, and you can only save them in their .art format.

The good news is that you can correct that behavior...the even more good news is that you will finally view the web as it was intended - in full color. Yes AOL users. you have not been viewing most images at full quality, and the difference may amaze you.

This will take 60 seconds, is immediate, you can stay on line and there is no need for an anesthetic, deodorant, or chocolate fix.
    1) Click MY AOL at the top of the screen
    2) Click PREFERENCES
    3) Click WWW
    4) Click WEB GRAPHICS
    5) Un-check USE COMPRESSED GRAPHICS
    6) Click APPLY
All done... Except.

If you return to a previously visited page AOL will load the old compressed graphic, so lets clear out your temp files while you are still in MY AOL - PREFERENCES
    1) Click GENERAL
    2) Click DELETE FILES
    3) Click APPLY

All done. Now explore the Internet as it should be done and enjoy the show.
