Changing a Drive Letter in Windows 2000
by Fran Combar, TriCounty PCUG November 2001
When installing a new hard drive, CD drive or other devices a drive letter is automatically assigned to the device, often in an undesirable sequence. The letter assigned can be changed using the following procedure.

Access the Computer Management console which is available in the Administrative Tools folder in the Control Panel. It should also come up if you do
Start/Run and enter "compmgmt.msc" (without the quotes of course).

In the management console, under the Storage tree, click the Disk Management branch. Under there you can right-click a virtual drive and select "Change Drive Letter and Path...". You should change the ZIP drive to something else first, like drive Z, then you should be able to change drive E to be drive D.
