Making "autorun" Power Point Presentations on CDs
Question Answered by Lloyd Mabry1, HAL-PC
    Q. I'm really excited about the business possibilities for my new CD burner. I make presentations to small groups and would like to know how I can make an "automatic" Power Point presentation that is run from my CD.

    A. Actually, the process is almost the same as creating an "autostart" for your CD. There are some additional issues to consider, however. First, you'll need to begin an "autostart.inf" file with a few differences:

    [autorun] note: no other info on this line

    [open=C:\Program Files\PowerPoint\pp.exe]
(or wherever your Power Point EXE file is located)
    There is a "run time" version of Power Point. If you copy this to your CD, just include this line:

    [open=pp.exe] or whatever the runtime file's name is.

    Then you will not need to "point" your "open=" line to the Power Point program on your hard drive. The same is true for many other programs. The "run time" program will only run the presentation. It will not allow any changes, editing, etc. Also note that if you use this CD on another system, the other computer may very well have the Power Point program in a different location.
