| Teddy Bear Virus jdbgmgr.exe A Hoax | |
| by Bob Thomson, Tacoma Open Group for Microcomputers | |
|
I had a call from Bob
Means asking about a message he got that his machine had been infected
by the jdbgmgr.exe virus and that his mailing list would pass it on. My
immediate reaction was to enter the name into the Google search engine
which yielded a Symantec statement that it is a hoax.
Here are some of the other comments I found. Begin Hoax Text "I have been informed that the following file is a virus that may be in you C drive. "Please go into you find file and if this exists (it has an icon of a bunny) please do not open. Use you right click button and just delete, then go into your recycle folder and delete it from there, do not open. "If this exists, please let everyone know in your address book." End Hoax Text. |
" The recent Teddy Bear Virus that has been circulating is a hoax and you do not need to delete the jdbgmgr.exe file. Further information including how to reinstall if you have deleted can be found on http://securityresponse.symantec.com/ avcenter/ venc/ data/ jdbgmgr.exe.file.hoax.html." "jdbgmgr.exe is a Windows file associated with Java." |
