UPDATE
Contents This Month
This month we have smorgasbord of computer related topics, viz:
  • improving the security of the popular compression utility WinZip,

  • advice for beginners of all ages,

  • how to avoid shooting yourself in the foot

  • Part 1 of steps to take (or not to take) to protect your privacy and security

  • an alternative to antivirus programs,

  • a discussion of a version of the Linux operating system,

  • a discussion of what the various graphic extensions mean and how to use them, and finally
  • a fairly detailed discussion of the various aspects of using digital rather than analog photography.

  • Library News
Perhaps Librarian Tom Stepanek will issue a 2004 CD or perhaps he won't. In the past the annual disk has contained the latest versions of most of the library offerings of the past year -- some of which were shareware -- as well as updates of perennial favorites. At the September meeting Tom had some doubts about being able to fill such a disk this year. If he does it will be available for a modest reproduction fee. Give him a call or e-mail him if you want to reserve a copy.
