SpyAxe Strikes Editor
by Bob Thomson
Yes, even those of us with years of experience and firewalls and antivirus software get bitten once in a while. In mid-December I experienced an attack by SpyAxe which claimed to be antivirus software but is, in fact, a Trojan Horse! It slowed my incoming e-mail activity to a crawl, especially if they contained attachments. Both Tom Stepanek and Carl Tenning suggested I look at the site (www.spywareguide.com/product_show.php?id=2361) which I did. After much agonizing and thrashing around, trying this and that without success, I purchased Spy Doctor from
PC Tools for about $30 and it got rid of the pest. (www.pctools.com/spyware-doctor/?ref=trial-google8)

There is a fairly elaborate procedure listed at (www.2-spyware.com) on the 'Net to do the same thing manually but I had run out of patience and opted to pay for someone else's solution to the problem. It worked for me!
