UPDATE

EXCEL Presentation a Hit!
TOG Past President, Dave Rowe, gave a beginner's presentation of some of the features of the Microsoft EXCEL spreadsheet. Throughout the presentation many old timer's were heard to mumble "I didn't know that!"

This presentation proved to be so popular that Dave has agreed to continue to present more features of EXCEL at the July 2006 Meeting. Don't miss it!.

Newbies
In the Beginner's section are a couple of short articles designed to expand your knowledge of your computer's capabilities. There are usually two or three ways to do things--this is just one of them. You don't have to do what either article tells you unless you like to experiment with different approaches. Who knows? You might like what you see.

Communications
In the Communications section, in E-Mail Overused, Abused and Invaluable there is some discussion of the good and bad features of e-mail. The common thread is that in spite of all the bad things going on it's probably better than anything else.

In Potentially Malicious Windows Files the author lists pages and pages of file types or extensions that could contain malicious material. Don't get too excited about it. Our library

contains several programs to combat malicious stuff and if you are running them you are pretty well protected.

Operating System
We all have programs, or remnants of programs on our computers that we never use, or haven't used in a long time. Do a Clean Sweep of Your Computer discusses how to go about getting rid of them.

Inthe article Lessons to be Learned are several tips that you will find useful.

General Interest
Open Source is the concept of developing software free to the public and which can be improved and developed cooperatively by several different authors. Is this idealistic concept a thing of the past? Read the article and see.

If you have an MP3 player you will want to read the article MP3 & Multimedia Player Basics.

Hardware
Vinny LaBash wrote the article Managing Device Drivers to inform you of the importance of these little pieces of software, as well as to describe their function, how circumstances change to require changes in them, and the importance of keeping them up-to-date.
