At the June 2008 meeting of the Tacoma Open Group for Microcomputers a question arose as to how to make a newly installed hard drive be recognized. I had the same situation when I installed a new slave drive in a removable tray. A friend directed me to a problem solver article in the April issue of Smart Computing on page 7 that cured up the situation for me. I will quote the paragraph here:
|
"If the drive appears in Windows Device Manager and seems to be working properly, right-click My Computer on your Desktop, click Management, and then click Disk Management under Storage. In the right-hand panel, right-click the drive and then click Change Drive Letter And Paths. Click Add, click Assign The Following Drive Letter (if it is not already selected), and then either accept the default drive letter or choose a new one. Click OK when finished. "
