President's Ramblings
When I'm out for a walk, I find that it's a great time for pondering profound questions. You've probably heard the one about the tree falling in the forest where there was nobody there to hear it. Was there a sound? I remember as a kid being told that there was no sound. But that's just a play on the definition of "sound". Of course if there was someone there, they would have heard it unless they were deaf. Anyway it made me think, would there be a computer club if there were no newsletter? Well we certainly are indebted to our regular TOGGLE editor for having a really good newsletter. The next question that came to mind was, would there be a computer club if there were no contributors? I guess it gets down to the definition of "club", but a viable club does depend on contributors. Of course we all pay dues and that is certainly a contribution. It keeps the newsletter coming. And then, of course, there's the attendence at the meetings. Everybody who attends is contributing in some way, even if it's just being a listener. What would be the point of preparing a program presentation if there were no listeners. But I often think that more clubmembers should be contributing something to say in the newsletter. It's not hard to do and doesn't need to be lengthy, just a short e-mail note would suffice to editor Bob Thomson . It could be about almost anything, like a discussion question you would like to have brought up at the meeting, your likes/dislikes about an application, or a neat tip you've learned about. I would really like to see more in our newsletter from our members. Don't be shy.

Library News
Downloads of free firewall versions has grown by leaps and bounds. Comodo Firewall Pro is now 18.6 MB and ZoneAlarm is a whopping 45.7 MB. Kerio Personal Firewall is now "Sunbelt Personal Firewall". The free version is a more managable 6.32 MB. Librarian Tom Stepanek has prepared a CD containing all three of these. Tom also has the XP SP3 update available to TOG members on disk.
