UPDATE
Are You Terminologically Challenged?
If so, Dave Rowe has found just the Website for you. If you checkout www.jargonary.com you will find a downloadable shareware program with detailed definitions for over 3000 technical and computer-related terms. Once installed, on each use, it will remind you it is shareware until you buy it ($19) and enter the access code.

The Anti-Mac?
If you want, as their demeaning ads imply, to limit your knowhow to pressing an on/off switch and moving a mouse maybe a PC is not for you. If you want to know more than that about your computer, then the article Why Doesn't It Work? may be a good beginning.

For Those Still Not Internet-Enabled
The majority, if not all of our members have been Internet-enabled for some time, most using one of the two Tacoma-area cable providers, AT&T Broadband or the city-owned Click!. However, for those who may have missed the article Points To Consider When ISP Shopping may be of interest, especially those who live in the outlying areas beyond the reach of cable systems, where only telephone lines offering 56K or DSL service are available and where there are still several providers from whom to choose.

Digital Music Redirect
We wanted to include a series of articles on Capturing and Organizing Digital Music files but found them to be far too lengthy for inclusion in the printed newsletter--so we are redirecting you to the
source. If interested in the subject take a look at a series by author Frank Powers. You can see the first two articles at the Danbury PC User Group site www.dacs.org/archive/ 0210/feature2.htm and www.dacs.org/archive/0211/feature2.htm. Now that you know the address you can find the future follow-up articles, in subsequent dacs.doc issues, on your own.

Mobility Mavens' Milieu
For those of you who travel a lot or who simply prefer the mobility of a laptop, with or without WiFi, the article on Mobile Computing is for you. It undoubtedly covers some things you are already know about, or are doing, or have considered doing, but it is quite comprehensive and it may be worth your time to take another look at some of the suggestions made. Check it out here.

'Tis The Season
As is our annual practice, the December meeting will be graced, not only with elementary cerebral nourishment (brain food for dummies), but with esoterica for the more advanced computerist (food for thought) as well. It will also feature yuletide cakes and cookies brought by fellow members (grain food for tummies).

We would encourage those of you who have not yet seen our new meeting place to come and partake of the yuletide fare so generously offered by fellow members. Come and share in the exchange of ideas and renew old friendships. Don't know the way? See the map on page 12.
